Academic Advising Resource Center (AARC):
The Academic Advising Resource Center (AARC)/Office of the Registrar supports academic advisors and students on issues related to academic success, progress toward degrees, courses, grading, and academic standing. Within the AARC are assistant deans who are responsible for meeting with and advising students on academic policies, grading questions, and departures from Oberlin (personal leaves or withdrawals.) The AARC works closely with the Dean of Students to ensure excellent communication with regard to student issues and to ensure academic advising is supported in the best way possible. The office also is responsible for maintaining the academic record, progress toward degree requirements, all aspects of course offerings, and classroom scheduling. |
Executive Functioning Tutoring:
The Center for Student Success offers programming for students needing support with executive functioning skills. Students who struggle with executive functioning skills often have trouble with organizational tasks such as creating a plan for the week, prioritizing tasks, responding to emails, and breaking down an assignment into smaller pieces. We provide skill building and guidance through our Executive Functioning Tutors. These are Oberlin students who are hired by CSS staff based on their interest in helping other students with organizational strategies. These tutors have demonstrated their ability to navigate their own executive functioning challenges and find strategies that work well for them and others. Location: Center for Student Success (Peters Hall, Room 118 - 50 N. Professor St.) |

Writing Center & Writing Associates Program:
The Oberlin College Writing Associates Program offers a dynamic space for students to think critically, be creative, and collaborate with their peers. Writing Associates come from many majors and are eager to listen and help writers reach their goals, whether they connect through the Writing Center or through a class with a designated Course Writing Associate. Location: Mary Church Terrell Main Library, First Floor (Website) 148 W. College St, Oberlin, OH The Speaking Center (Online-only):
The Speaking Center supports students in developing strong speaking and oral communication skills. We offer assistance with group presentations, honors/capstone presentations, science presentations, and more. Students meet one-on-one in Speaking Center sessions with a trained peer speaking associate on all parts of the presentation process. The Speaking Center also aids students who are looking to improve their speaking abilities outside of class work. In addition, we offer a range of workshops throughout the year on speaking in both academic and professional settings, such as conference presentations or job interviews.
